Whether you’re hoping to change some text on the website, send out a newsletter or are simply struggling with Excel (as, face it, we all do sometimes) – the one to turn to is our Full-Stack Developer Ninh.
He’s guaranteed to fix your problem in a matter of minutes, and crack a joke or two in the process. Naturally, he does many things more complex than those, but he is better asked himself about those, which is what I’m about to do. Oh, and he has some insider information on top-notch Vietnamese restaurant in Helsinki, so he’s a great lunch buddy too!

We sat down with Ninh to ask him about his work, and a bit about his free time too. So Ninh, what’s your role in the company?
“I’m the full-stack developer, which means that I work with both frontend and backend. In case that doesn’t really explain what I do, I’ll put it in another way. When you go onto the ParkMan website, the text and images you see there, that construction is my making. Of course it’s done with the help of the designer and content writer, but writing the code that puts it up there, that’s my job.
In addition to that, when we send out emails to our users, I create the code for those too. A lot of the data I need is fetched from backend, and frontend is where my work actually appears.”
What kind of a background do you come into this job from?
“I initially did a 4-year Bachelor in Software Engineering in my native country Vietnam. After that I built my own startup, a tool of communication between high school teachers and parents. The method was SMS, which is certainly obsolete nowadays!
Then, after another two years, I moved to the Nordics to do my Master’s Degree. The first year of the degree took place in Stockholm, Sweden, and the second one in Helsinki, where I’ve now been living for a bit over two years.”
How did you end up working at ParkMan?
“This is my second job in Finland, and I’ve now worked at ParkMan for 1,5 years. I was on the Academic Work headhunting platform, where ParkMan’s recruiters spotted my application and contacted me. Already after a month of being in between jobs, I had gotten the position here.”
What is a typical workday like for you?
“The last thing I am is a morning person! That means that I usually start my work around 10 or 11 am. The most productive time of the day for me is between 2 and 7 pm.
I usually spend the first 15 minutes of the working day reading industry news. I use an app called Panda that has great compilations of the most recent regarding front-end, design and coding news in general. After that I check my email, and get up-to-date on what’s going on at ParkMan on that day.
I usually work on two or three projects at the same time, one of which is the ParkMan website and all updates relating to it. Other projects are whatever the dev team is putting together at that moment.”
What do you like most about working at ParkMan?
“The feeling I get from helping people around me. I like to work together with others, and that together we create something new. For example getting the content written by someone and making it appear nicely on our website. In general I just enjoy completing tasks that people need my help with, and seeing the result.
And besides that, of course that I get to play ping pong everyday!”
What do you like to do in your free time?
“I like to cook, and especially try out new recipes. I also enjoy playing the guitar, and gaming. I recently bought a car, which means that I get to go on drives and discover new places every now and then.”
What are you looking forward to in the near future?
“I am looking forward to our new software projects getting launched, and getting feedback from users about them. I’m also excited to see growth in our existing and new markets – new cities and countries starting to use ParkMan.
In the very near future I’m looking forward to the Christmas party when all of the company gathers together and our team members that work in other countries fly over to Finland. I’m also looking forward to having new interesting people to work with, and maybe some new ping pong bats.”
